What do You See?

by Irene Kai

John SelbyI am an accomplished artist, author, publisher, teacher and activist, graduated from the School of Visual Arts, NYC and the Royal College of Art, London and taught Graphic Design at Penn State University.

When I watched the drama of Terry Shaivo played out in the media, I felt compelled to share my views on the hypocrisy of religion and how the true meaning of the sacred texts has been lost and left us stuck in the mire of assumptions and accusations.

We make the other "wrong" because they are "different" and this judgment stems from our cultural bias and our inability to honor other points of view. I remembered a series of amazing photographs I took 35 years ago that sparked an uproar at The Royal College of Art in London.

This series of photographs demonstrate how every person has their own perspective and reaction to any given situation or image. What you see in any given situation is a byproduct of your cultural upbringing and the personal judgments you have formed.

I would like to invite you to turn fear into curiosity, dismissal into inquiry, and hatred into compassion. Please take my gift of this mini course to you and start your journey of finding peace in your personal life.
